LRO: Radio Science (RS)

August 9, 2024. The Radio Science SPK dataset has been migrated to the PDS4 standard. The other RS datasets will be migrated at a later date. Additional RS data through mission phase LRO_ES_132 are also now available. See the release notes for more information.

This archive contains a collection of LRO Radio Science (RS) data and documentation generated by various elements of the DSN, the LRO Project, the Radio Science Team (RST), and others. Radio Science data consist of tracking data and secondary files such as weather, laser ranging, and small forces data that are used to analyze the primary data. The Radio Science Team is a subunit of the Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA) team.

Radio Science Data Sets

Bundle Root
RANGE One-way laser ranging data, subdivided by mission subphase
SFF Small forces files
SPK (PDS4) Geodyn trajectory files, which are monthly orbit reconstructions in NAIF SPK format, derived from the raw RS data and used for geolocation of LOLA data
TRK Tracking data from ground stations, subdivided by mission subphase and then by day
WEA Weather data from ground stations, subdivided by mission subphase and then by day
